The main background of the ticket is purple. It depicts a flower, the symbol of the tournament, which indicates the serial number of the match. Two leaves of the flowers display the flags of the countries whose national teams are participating in the game in question. There is also information about the stadium hosting the game with layout and entrances indicated, while all the main security elements are located on the back of the ticket.

Tickets will have the names of the ticket holder printed on them; however, it may be possible to use somebody else’s ticket to attend the games, as the admission personnel will only be checking the ticket holders randomly at the door.

Ticket sales for supporters of the 16 national teams qualified for UEFA EURO 2012 has started, exclusively on UEFA.com.

A specific ticket allocation has been reserved for fans of these 16 participating teams and tickets will be sold based on the nationality and/or country of residence of the applicant. Lotteries will determine which applicants receive tickets and supporters therefore do not have to rush to apply for tickets. The end date of the application period will be 3 March 2012 – or earlier for some associations according to their own regulations as indicated in their respective ticketing portal.

A total of 32% of the overall stadium capacities has been reserved for fans of the finalist teams. Each side will get 16% of the overall net stadium capacity, or a minimum 6,000 tickets, for each of their group stage matches. For quarter-finals and semi-finals the number of tickets set aside is 5,000 per participating team, and for the final 9,000 per team.

As part of its ticketing strategy, UEFA will also implement a tour operator programme (TOP). This service will give the opportunity to supporters to buy travel packages from licensed tour operators and related tickets on UEFA.com afterwards. There are a maximum two tour operators offering such services in every one of the finalist countries, with TUI Travel PLC, the official accommodation agency of UEFA EURO 2012, being a licensed operator in most of these countries.

This programme will distribute up to 31,000 tickets, meaning an additional 1,000 tickets per game are being reserved for fans of the teams. TOP will run from 12 December to 1 March.

A total of 1.4m tickets will be available for UEFA EURO 2012 and about 85% will end up in the hands of supporters, either through UEFA’s official website, the national associations of the 16 sides or competitions organised by tournament sponsors. The remaining tickets will be allocated to non-participating member associations, to other members of the football family such as confederations, clubs, referees and other officials, to host governments and host cities, to VIP guests, as well as for the corporate hospitality programme.

Euro 2012 needs 12,000 volunteers

Euro 2012 organizers want volunteers to help tourists.

If Ukraine wants to impress when it co-hosts the Euro 2012 soccer championship with Poland next year, it’ll take a form of civic engagement that has not yet caught on – volunteering.

With hundreds of thousands of fans expected to flood Ukraine, organizers will rely on nearly 12,000 volunteers to help the tournament run smoothly by guiding visitors, assisting journalists and supporting emergency workers.

Organizers say these helpers will decide whether the tournament is a success, even more so than expensive stadium and road-building projects.

“You can have great roads and stadiums, but Europeans are used to this,” said Mykola Vorobiov, coordinator of the volunteers2012.org.ua information portal.

“If we don’t have professional human resources, such as volunteers, there’s no value in this entire modern infrastructure.”

Unlike in the West, volunteering is not a common practice in Ukraine.

The Ukrainian Philanthropists Forum said that one in five European Union citizens volunteer, whereas in Ukraine organized volunteering is at an immeasurably low level.
But organizers hope Euro 2012 will help to change that.
“The tournament is a chance to change the mindset of people and give them an understanding of volunteering as an integral part of society,” said Mariya Chubata, senior manager of the Lviv Euro 2012 Agency.

The desire to represent Ukraine as a volunteer appears high. In its first month of accepting applications, Kyiv, one of the eight host cities in Poland and Ukraine, more than 3,000 applicants registered.

Two-thirds of them are women, while 85 percent were students.

Kyiv is looking to recruit 6,000 volunteers. Lviv, another host city, is looking for nearly 1,000 on its own.

The Union of European Football Federations wants to recruit some 2,500 volunteers for each country, in addition to host city volunteers for help with corporate hospitality, logistics and media.

It expects to receive up to five or six applications for every job, according to Andriy Bantser, UEFA’s volunteer manager in Ukraine.

Chubata cited the more than 2,000 non-profit organizations active in the city as well as the high number of educational institutes from where she expects volunteers.

“We have a young and vibrant city,” said Chubata.

With such a large influx of people expected – 1.4 million visitors – hospitality and interpersonal skills will be paramount.

Volunteers will be strategically stationed at airports and train stations to help visitors find their way.

They’ll be located near stadiums, fan zones and fan embassies.

Others will support police and medical personnel.

Being the face of Ukraine is a demanding task. But according to Vorobiov’s information portal, 90 percent of the 2,000 registered users on the site stated they have no prior experience.

“As you could see, young people without prior experience are interested,” he said. “They want to see the championship from the inside and we must give young people from across Ukraine this chance.”

Vorobiov hopes Euro 2012 will serve as just the beginning of widespread volunteering in Ukraine.

“We don’t want to stop with Euro 2012. Volunteering is a social part of life and the championship is only the catalyst for volunteers in all of Ukraine,” he said.

WARSAW, Poland — A year before Poland co-hosts one of the highest-profile sporting events in the world — the quadrennial European soccer championship — national and international authorities are worried violence could interrupt the tournament.

In what many fear is a taste of what could happen during Euro 2012, hundreds of Polish fans recently went on a rampage in Kaunas, Lithuania, following a friendly match between the two countries’ national teams. Footage of hooligans engaged in running battles with the police were broadcast around the world.

“This is a huge image problem for Poland,” said Martin Kallen with UEFA, the European soccer body and the tournament organizer, adding that hooligans are present at every match in Poland.

Street fights are just one in a laundry list of illegal activity connected to Polish fans.

The stands of the country’s soccer stadiums have long been dominated by beefy men hurling insults at opposing fans and even at their own teams. The authorities have clamped down on violence in the stadiums in the past, with the effect that fans have taken their fights into forests, where they stage pre-arranged fights with rivals.

Platinum tickets for Euro 2012 are almost sold out

The most expensive “platinum” corporate packages for Euro-2012 matches, which provide access to individual skyboxes, have been almost purchased with the Ukrainian companies being the most active clients. Meanwhile, the UEFA said the sales agents will start proposing the Gold and Platinum packages all around the globe in a couple of weeks. The news came out from the exclusive interview with UEFA head of sales and marketing, Thibaut Potdevin, to the Information Center “Ukraine-2012″.

The campaign of selling so-called corporate packages for Euro 2012 “Prestige Club Euro 2012” started in April 12.

As we know, all the Platinum corporate packages (the sky-boxes) were sold in Lviv. Is that true and how the situation goes on other stadiums in Ukraine and in Poland?

There are still boxes available each stadium, with the exception of Kharkiv, which had only two. We’ve got a special situation in Kyiv, where demand is extremely high. So, we have decided to put the requests on a waiting list for the time being as we are still waiting for various confirmations. The top clients, purchasing the ‘Platinum Plus’ package, have the priority.

As for the Platinum packages, is it mostly international companies buying or just the Ukrainian ones?\

For the moment, the vast majority is Ukrainian. UEFA has set up its own sales team in the host countries, with the only local staff in Ukraine and Poland. We kicked off the global sales in Kyiv with a special event, so the opportunity is definitely offered to the Ukrainian companies. But they have to move fast as in a couple of weeks the sales agents will start proposing the Gold and Platinum packages all around the globe. And the interest is very high

everywhere, from the USA to Asia, and of course, in all European countries.

How high is the interest for the Gold packages, how many of them were sold in general?

The demand is traditionally high. Gold is a wonderful product, offering football fans the chance to spend the hours around the game in a lively environment, with football and business VIPs, EURO memorabilia, watching the chefs cooking in front of them some gourmet meals, and enjoying several other football related of artistic entertainment opportunities. The gold product was a big hit in 2008, so we already know that most major western European companies are eager to invite their business partners at the EURO 2012 Club Prestige Gold pavilion.

Two optional types of packages are offered: Platinum Prestige Club and Golden Prestige Club. Holders of the first one have the right to access a private sky box. The “golden” ticket grants access to the business-class hospitality zone.

Architecture Firm From Columbia Will Decorate Kyiv For Euro 2012

The competition for decorating the centre of Kyiv for Euro-2012 has been won by an architectural design from Colombia. This was announced during a ceremony to award the International Architectural Competition “Furbishing the central part of Kyiv for Euro-2012”. The emphasis of the project was put on a 10-kilometer tourist route from the Museum of the Great Patriotic War to Lvivska Square. The winner combined the shore of the Dnipro River with the city via ground bridges where you can ski in winter.

Second place went to representatives of Britain and third was shared between Japan and the USA. Two architectural offices from Russia, Norway, Australia and the Netherlands received diplomas as finalists. The winner will receive a 10,000 Euro prize and the others awards of 2,000 Euros. The competition was sent to 50 works from 16 countries. The jury selected the 9 best. During celebrations of Kyiv Day at the end of May an exhibition of the project winners will be presented on Khreshchatyk, Ukrinform reports.

Kyiv Olympic Stadium is 84% ready

According to Mr Barkovsky, the main works on the construction of the arena will be completed in September this year, and the stadium will be handed over for final commissioning in October. LOC director of Euro-2012, Markiyan Lubkivsky added that the holding of two matches involving the Ukrainian national team is scheduled for 2011. “The date of one of them is already known. On November 11 Ukraine will play Germany”, the director of Euro-2012 in Ukraine summed up.

Euro 2012 Arena of Lviv: 3D Demo

Football fans from all over Ukraine continue to monitor the preparation of our country to holding the finals of the 2012 European Football Championship.

Tournament organizers also provide an opportunity to observe the visual changes at construction sites.

The “Directorate of Building EURO 2012 Facilities in Lviv” updated the virtual tours section with the construction site of a new football stadium on Stryyska St. and Kiltseva St, which will host three matches of the continental championship’s group stage.

At the EURO arena in Lviv the installation of structural roof structural elements is continuing.
